Perth Moves
STRUT Dance
After the success of Perth Moves in 2023, STRUT Dance is back with a free 10-day dance hub that celebrates movement, music, connection and community.
Start your day with morning meditations led by a stellar line-up of musicians and movement practitioners.
We’ll siesta in the middle of the day to let Perth’s summer heat pass before welcoming you back to witness bite-sized performances by world-renowned choreographers and dancers. See Australia’s Deep Soulful Sweats – a guided astrological dance performed by anyone and everyone – and Italy’s Michele Rizzo, whose work shares the experience of ecstatic dancing, often drawing inspiration from clubbing, to name a few.
Take to the dance floor yourself and participate in open contemporary dance classes, afro-fusion, late-night salsa or even an all-styles, all-ages dance battle and boogie under the stars until late with Perth’s leading DJs including Rok Riley and Peter McAvan.
Drop by in the morning to stretch out before work or make a night of it and join us before or after your Festival show at the State Theatre Centre. There's sure to be something for everyone to move to.

6.00 – 6.30pm Performance: Coalescing Towards – Michele Rizzo
STRUT Dance presents Italian artist, Michele Rizzo’s bespoke offering for the PERTH MOVES hub.
A choreography that combines contemplation with a gradual intensification of energy and cohesion, the performance explores two key concepts of repetition and unison, to delve into the essence of movement as a medium for forging togetherness. It is rooted in Michele’s choreographic pieces from his series HIGHER xtn., Reaching, and Rest, which draw inspiration from communal dancing.
Coalescing Towards was created in collaboration with local and international dance artists from the Perth MOVES Laboratory and features an original composition by an Australian sound artist supported by Tura.
