The Kids Are Alright
CURATED BY KIDS IS BACK for our Literature & Ideas Family Day, where ten young creators get to hand select illustrators, authors, you name it, for their very own literary sessions.
Naturally, we wanted to see where their tastes lie so we can get a sense of what to expect from them on the big day (and of course, get to know them!).
Here’s a sneak peek into a few of their favourite things ahead of their time to shine at our Literature & Ideas program!
Adela’s current favourite series is Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling which she thinks is interesting because of all the magic, fantasy and new words she learns. Adela enjoys reading, listening to music and hanging out with family and friends.
Arkie’s favourite book is Listen to the Moon by Michael Morpurgo because it is very interesting, very emotional and really gets you interested in the plot. Arkie likes walking her dog and her proudest moment was when she got into PEAC.
The first book Aysha remembers reading is Kids First Rhymes and her current favourite books are the Tom Gates series by Liz Pichon because you can’t stop reading them. In Aysha’s spare time she makes her own PowerPoints and plays video games.
The first book Callum remembers reading is Clever Daddy by Maddie Stewart. His favourite book is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling because it is an extremely good book with an engaging story. Callum loves playing video games and music / singing.
Dino’s current favourite books are the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan because they inspire him to keep reading. Dino loves playing video games, and his proudest moment was when he got a gold medal in judo.
The first book Hamish remembers reading is Hey Jack by Sally Rippin and his current favourite book is The Summoner Trilogy by Taran Matharu. Hamish loves playing with his birds and was most proud when his team won the hockey grand final.

The first book Jamie remembers reading is The Alphabet Book by P.D. Eastman. Jamie’s current favourite series is The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkein because it’s full of rich descriptions and diverse character profiles. Jamie enjoys martial arts and Scouts.
Katie’s favourite book is Akarnae by Lynette Noni, which is the first book of The Medoran Chronicles series, because it is just an amazing book! Katie enjoys playing with her dog Kit, but her favourite activity is writing stories (she is currently working on her second novel!).
The first book Molly remembers reading is I Love You To The Moon and Back by Amelia Hepworth. Her current favourite book is The Girl, The Dog and the Writer in Rome by Katrina Nannestad because it is full of excitement and you never know what will happen!
