While We're Young
We see young people as culture producers; acknowledging and celebrating them as engaged and creative citizens.
Inspired by their creativity, we've introduced projects for young book lovers, visual artists, musicians and more! And best of all, participation is FREE.
While we're talkin' 'bout the young style, check out four ways that young folk can get involved in our Festival!
Dive into the heart of the Festival
Young Creatives is a chance for young people aged 15 – 18 interested in ANY art form to peek behind the curtains to see what makes the festival tick. You’ll attend performances, meet artists and Festival staff, plus visit galleries. With a great mix of group and individual activities, each Young Creative has their own individually tailored experience.

A young book lovers delight
Curated by Kids is an incredible chance for eager and inquisitive readers aged 10 – 12 to meet and interview writers and illustrators as part of the Perth Festival 2020 Literature & Ideas Festival.
We’ll provide the curators with books to read over the summer and then, alongside mentor Libby Klysz, the curators will put together a program – from deciding who will appear, researching questions and then hosting the sessions!

Have your work exhibited at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery
Led by Perth Festival Visual Arts Program Associate Gemma Weston, Making Space is the perfect workshop for visual artists aged 15 – 18 with an interest in exhibition development, design and presentation.
Over the summer young artists will create their own artwork using collage or assemblage and, together with their peers, participants will design an exhibition using their own art works.
