What is this show?
Under the Same Sun: Lotterywest Closing Event is Perth Festival’s intimate free closing weekend concert featuring songs of nature and nurture, mothers and the sun. The event is free, but it is essential to book your free tickets and arrive by 6pm to secure your spot.
As the sun sets on Perth Festival 2024, some of the finest voices on the planet bring their artistry to this collaborative celebration as Aboriginal musicians share the stage with artists from around the country and the world. The line-up includes Angelique Kidjo, Emma Donovan, Flewnt, Mama Kin, Sampa the Great, Paul Kelly and Stephen Pigram. Backed by the West Australian Symphony Orchestra conducted by Festival Artistic Director Iain Grandage, Under the Same Sun promises to be a joyous musical experience for all the family.
When and where is the event?
Under the Same Sun: Lotterywest Closing Event is on Saturday 2 March at Supreme Court Gardens in the heart of Perth. It is on the final weekend of Perth Festival 2024.
Gates open 5pm and the show starts at 7pm and runs approximately two hours.
It is essential to book a ticket and please arrive before 6pm to secure your spot.
Do I need to buy a ticket?
This is a free, family-friendly event but you do need to book tickets for entry.
The enclosed concert area will be fenced and the capacity is limited to people with a ticket.
Children of all ages also will need a ticket.
This event has reached capacity as pre-registrations have sold out.
To secure your entry, please book a ticket and try to arrive by 6pm, an hour before the show. We also recommend that you sign up to our Perth Festival e-News via our website to receive updates.
Is there an age restriction for this event?
Under the Same Sun can be experienced by people of all ages. Families are welcome to share a twilight of togetherness as the sun comes down to close Perth Festival 2024.
How do we get there?
There is very limited parking in the area, please plan your journey and travel via public transport or use the City of Perth Parking App to check real time carpark availability. Plan your journey at transperth.wa.gov.au
Please note, road closures will be in place on Governors Ave / Terrace Road. There will be no access to CPP Terrace Road or Perth Concert Hall from Governors Ave, access via Victoria Ave only.
A dedicated ride share drop off / pick up will be situated on Riverside Drive along Supreme Court Gardens, access from Barrack Street.
What about access?
Perth Festival is committed to making all events and performances accessible. Perth Festival will have wheelchairs available for patrons to sign out from the box office at the entrance. These are available free of charge for patrons to use. There will also be an accessible viewing area reserved for patrons who require it. Please note, this event is on grass. Please contact 6488 8616 if you have questions about accessibility.
Will there be seating?
There will be no seating supplied, please bring your picnic rug or low chair. There will be blanket areas and mixed seating areas. Please refer to the signage onsite and choose the area that fits you’re seating option. Please note, no seats (including low seats) will be permitted in the blanket area.
What are the food and beverage options?
You are welcome to bring a picnic. This is an alcohol free, family-friendly event. No BYO alcohol. There will be a range of food trucks selling food and hot and cold beverages onsite. Drinking water stations also will be on site.
Will there be road closures in Perth due to the event?
A small road closure will be in place on Governors Ave and Terrace Road between 3pm-11pm.
Access to CPP Terrace Road or Perth Concert Hall will be from Victoria Ave only. No access from Governors Ave.
Please note parking restrictions including towing will be in place along Riverside Drive, Governors Ave and Terrace Road. Please refer to all signage.
Where’s the entry to the event?
Entry to Under the Same Sun is via four gates. Gate 1 is located along Riverside Drive, Gate 2 and 3 are off Governors Ave and Gate 4 is located off the Supreme Court of Western Australia carpark.
What should I bring?
- Your tickets! Have them on your phone or printed out for presentation at the gate.
- Something to sit on. A picnic rug or low chair is strongly recommended.
- Food and non-alcoholic drinks including water.
- A water bottle – do make use of our water refill station
- Comfortable clothing such as a cardigan or jacket in case of cooler weather and/or a raincoat or poncho in the event of rain.
- Insect repellent. If you don’t have insect repellent, it is available at the box office.

- Pets
- Drones
- Umbrellas
This is a smoke free event.
Where can I park my bike?
Bike racks are available at Elizabeth Quay and other locations around Supreme Court Gardens.
Is there a preferred pick up and drop off location at the event?
There will be a pick-up and drop off area along Riverside Drive adjacent to Supreme Court Gardens, access via Barrack Street.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
You are welcome to bring a picnic. This is an alcohol free, family-friendly event. No BYO alcohol. There will be a range of food trucks selling food and hot and cold beverages onsite.

Can I bring my dog?
No, dogs are not allowed into the event. Service animals are welcome.
Will first aid be available?
Yes, a first aid service will be onsite. Check with our event staff if you need assistance.
Can I smoke at the event?
This is a smoke free event.
Will there be toilets at the event?
Yes, toilet facilities will be available at the eastern end of Supreme Court Gardens.
What happens if it’s raining?
Under the Same Sun will proceed in light rain unless there are severe weather warnings which could compromise the safety of the event. Please check the Perth Festival website or our social channels @perthfest for the latest information.
Can I take photos?
Yes of course. We encourage everyone to share their experience on social media and tag us @perthfest.
Please be mindful of others and turn your flash off!
Can I bring my professional camera or sound and video recording equipment?
Professional cameras and video recording equipment are not allowed unless permission has been sought from the producers in advance.
What should I do if I have lost a child/friend/family member?
Should you become separated from your child/friend/family member, please alert event staff or go to the box office at the entry on Governors Ave.
