Born from slavery, developed clandestinely and banned by authorities until 1981, Maloya today is associated with ancestry and blissful freedom. Salama is fortunate to be pioneering in the sharing of the powerful and magical Maloya in Australia. With members from La Réunion, Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar, South Africa, and natives from New Caledonia, Sri Lanka, West Africa (Mali, Guinea and Benin), France and Australia they sing in Malagasy and Creole languages, and they bring a guaranteed good time.

Expect vibrant a cappella singing, swirling dances and captivating traditional percussion in this uplifting expression of joy and celebration.
