Six easy family wins at Perth Festival 2026

We're making it genuinely easy to do the Festival as a family this summer. Kick things off at East Perth Power Station with riverside tunes at Casa Musica, join a free teen-friendly Artwalk, and pick up the Festival activity book to turn your day into a creative mission. Then level it up with Powerhouse - a youth curated live music night - or lock in a big screen outing with Cine Wonders.

Here are six family approved ideas to start planning your shared summer of fun.

1. Artwalk for Teens

As the sun sets at Casa Musica where Powerhouse are performing, join a guided art walk created especially for teenagers (and their guardians).

This after dark tour visits three major artworks at East Perth Power Station: Lance Chadd Tjyllyungoo’s striking projections, Kait James' Blak Flags, and Karla Bidi.

Co-hosted by artists Yabini Kickett and Ilona McGuire, the Artwalk offers a rare window into the ideas, processes and creative thinking behind the works. Places are limited so book now!

Dates 13 Feb | 8:00 - 8:45pm | Free, registrations required

3. Grab an Activity Book at East Perth Power Station

Pick up the Boorloo Contemporary and Karla Bidi Activity Book – a free playbook that introduces children to the artists and artworks at East Perth Power Station through fun, interactive activities inspired by the site.

Collect your copy from the box office, start exploring, and don’t forget to grab your special frog stamp while you’re there.

4. On the Stage

If you’re looking for amazing performances for ages 12+ and 15+, these four stage picks are a brilliant place to start. Go bold with Dragon I, a witty, world-premiere mix of theatre, animation and music. Make it sharp and timely with Scenes from the Climate Era, a rapid fire theatre built from bite-sized scenes that move between humour and urgency.

For something that feels like a cinematic event on stage, Lé Nør [the rain] plays with the illusion of a foreign film performed live each night, dialling up romance, spectacle and ’80s flavour. And if you want theatre that feels different every night, POV is a daring live docu-drama driven by a young truth-seeker and two unrehearsed performers.

Pick your date, check the content notes, and lock in your seats now.

5. Powerhouse

Enjoy a night of emerging homegrown bands, ready to hit you with your new favourite song. Head to Casa Musica stage at East Perth Power Station for a lineup curated by and for young people, bringing together some of the best rising acts from Boorloo in one easy, high energy night out.

Powerhouse is the brainchild of Oscar Cvitan of Birdland, who saw a gap in the industry for up-and-coming artists and decided to make a change. Alongside his band the lineup includes indie quartet Shorehaven, six-piece alt-rock band Calico City, and the 2024 Rock Scholars Band of the Year, 3fifteen.

Looking for something more relaxed? We're teaming up with Sensorium Theatre to bring relaxed, inclusive sessions for select films.
