4 ways to experience Mahabharata

The biggest show to hit Perth this summer is Mahabharata and like any true epic tale there are multiple parts (well just two!).

Firstly, what's it all about and why should I see it?

Meet the Pandavas and the Kauravas – two royal families fighting for control of the kingdom their grandfather once ruled. Filled with vengeance, gods and the supernatural this is a tale of rivalry and humanity at its finest.

It’s a tale as old as Homer’s Odyssey or as recent as TV’s Succession. Direct from acclaimed seasons in Toronto and London, this is a true Festival experience. By the way, it's all performed in English!

There are a few different ways to experience this theatrical event and all of them are right – it just depends on what you’re up for! 👀

1. Binge watch the whole story!

If you love a marathon session of your favourite series, you’ve smashed out The Lord of the Rings trilogy and you’re looking for your next binge hit then commit hard.

Buy tickets to Part I & II on a Saturday or Sunday and lose yourself in this story of ambition and revenge all in one day!

2. Split your experience across two days

There’s no pressure. Even if you’re keen to experience the full story of these warring families and the havoc they wreak on the world, you don’t have to do it all at once.

You can book to see Part I on a Tuesday and come back on Friday night to enjoy Part II. It's like waiting for that next juicy episode.

3. Dip your toe in — just see one part (we won't judge!)

If you’re unsure about committing to a two-part theatre experience, no worries. You can book a ticket for Part I and just see how you like it. If you love it, you can always buy a ticket to experience Part II (unless they’re sold out of course).

You’re also welcome to just see Part II without seeing Part I. No judgement here!

4. Extend your experience and dine!

If you’re up for the ultimate Festival experience then you’ll want to take in the community meal and storytelling event in-between Parts I and II. This is the path of a true Festival junkie – and you can do it all on a Saturday or Sunday starting at 2.30pm.

An epic show like Mahabharata deserves an epic afternoon and evening at the theatre so don’t miss this chance!
