Perth Festival creates experiences for, with and alongside children and young people. From performances, films and free activities for families to creative opportunities where young people can make, perform, contribute and lead, there are lots of ways to get involved.
Whether you're a child, a young creative, a parent, carer or educator, this is where you'll find what's on and how to take part. More details will be announced soon.

Children’s Assembly 2027
Perth Festival is planning something very special for our 2027 Festival: an Assembly run by children.
We’re looking for a group of children aged 9–12 with big ideas, lots of questions, and something to say about the world.
What do you think the future should look like? Are we doing a good job of looking after the world for the children of tomorrow? What would you change if you were in charge? And are there things that children understand that adults don’t?
If these are the kinds of questions you like thinking and talking about, we want to hear from you.
Applications close: 5pm Friday 9 October 2026.
In February 2027 during Perth Festival, children will host an event and/or a series of workshops of big ideas, conversations, art and play. The children will run the show.
Children aged 9–12 who live in Western Australia and have permission from a parent or guardian can apply. Regional children are welcome if they can travel to Perth for the required workshops and Assembly. Applicants should be available for the development and rehearsal dates; tell us in the form if you cannot attend a particular workshop.
By taking part, children will:
help create and host a major event as part of Perth Festival
meet and work with artists, thinkers and experts
have a genuine say in what the Children’s Assembly becomes
develop skills in public speaking, interviewing, researching, devising and working with an audience
work with professional artists and Perth Festival staff
meet other children who are curious about the world and have ideas they want to share
receive light refreshments and snacks at workshops

To express interest, upload a simple two to three minute video introducing yourself and sharing what you care about, a change you would like to see, a question you would ask an expert and why you want to be involved. A parent or guardian must read the information with you and sign the form.
Saturday workshops are scheduled for 31 October and 7, 14 and 21 November 2026, 10am–12pm. Rehearsal workshops are scheduled for 27–29 January 2027, 10am–3pm. The Assembly is planned for February 2027; its date and location are still to be confirmed.
