Do you enjoy dance and movement? Then come and dance with us!
We are looking for 150 lovers of dance to come together and create a large scale choreographic emergence over six days in February.

The project

Perth Festival and STRUT Dance are looking for 150 amateurs to join CERCLES by Boris Charmatz, a 6-day XXL dance workshop, a choreographic emergence that builds day after day at Perth Moves in Forrest Place.

Internationally acclaimed dancer and choreographer Boris Charmatz and his company Terrain have been the subject of retrospectives at MoMA (New York), Tate Modern (London), Festival d’Automne (Paris), Festival d’Avignon (France).

In 2026 he brings his large-scale collective project CERCLES to Perth. 150 amateurs join a cohort of professional dancers to create choreography en masse. CERCLES is a communal movement experience that extends our perception of what dance can be, propelled by the soundtrack by Meute, a Hamburg based techno brass band.

Who can participate?

Perth Festival and STRUT Dance invite participants to register for the full six-day workshop.

The project is open to everyone – all ages, abilities, fitness levels and experience are welcome and no previous dance experience is necessary.

  • Participants must be aged 16 years and over and living in Perth and wider area.
  • Participants must be available to attend all workshops

More about the workshop

Each session lasts approximately 3 hours per day over a total period of 6 days.

The workshop is free of charge. 

By registering, you confirm that you can commit to all six days of the workshop.

Participation in CERCLES is voluntary and unremunerated.

Workshop schedule

The days of workshop are as follows:

  • Mon 23 Feb 4 – 8.30pm (venue TBC in CBD)
  • Tue 24 Feb 4.30 – 8.30pm (venue TBC in CBD)
  • Wed 25 Feb 4.30 – 8.30pm (venue TBC in CBD)
  • Thu 26 Feb 4.30 – 8.30pm at Forrest Place, Perth CBD
  • Fri 27 Feb 4.30 – 8.30pm at Forrest Place, Perth CBD
  • Sat 28 Feb 4.30 – 8.30pm at Forrest Place, Perth CBD

From 23 – 25 Feb there will be no audience.

From 26 – 28 Feb the workshop will be in Forrest Place and audiences can witness free of charge.
