Workshop with Gideon Obarzanek (One Infinity)

Join choreographer and director Gideon Obarzanek, accompanied by members of Dancenorth, in this workshop exploring the language of movement behind One Infinity.

Gideon returns to Perth Festival with One Infinity, a cross-cultural music and dance work he directed. One Infinity came from a collaboration between Australia’s recorder virtuoso Geneveive Lacey and China’s Jun Tian Fang Ensemble, with dancers from Dancenorth and Bejing Dance Theatre.

Inspired by a Chinese ancient take of “Zhi Yin – ⾳音” (“knowing the tune”), music and movement are integrated to shape each other. In what begins as a concert, dancers echo the sounds with their gently shifting bodies. Masterful choreography and everyday movement, ritual and improvisation, nature and civilisation are all driven into a state of flux in this stunning immersive experience.

Co-hosted with STRUT Dance.
