Way back in 1992, Perth Festival celebrated its 40th annual get-together of international artistic dreamers and achievers – and the start of a very special relationship.
After years of financial threats to the Festival’s ability to serve the Western Australian community, our dreams finally came true after the Lotteries Act was amended to secure Lotterywest funding each year.
The core partnership with Lotterywest has underpinned the Festival’s operations ever since, enabling more than 10 million people to access worldclass artistic experiences over the past 25 years.
The arts are crucial in building a healthy sustainable community for everyone, the ethos of Lotterywest since the first WA lottery draw in 1933. The State-run lottery agency is one of the few in the world with a community grants program.
The beauty of Lotterywest’s unique ‘you play, you give’ approach means that each time people play Lotto, the money stays here in Western Australia to be invested back into their community.
