Workshop with Michael Keegan-Dolan (Teac Damsa)

Workshop

Workshop with Michael Keegan-Dolan

A workshop for dancers, actors and other performers on acquiring tools to re-connect with oneself.

“I celebrate myself, and sing myself,

And what I assume you shall assume,

For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.”

Walt Whitman

In this workshop we will aim to acquire some simple tools that gently guide us inwards so that over time, with discipline and with the correct application of these tools, it is possible, to strengthen or repair the connection with oneself.

Many relationships we form, many interactions we have, many of the things we do, make or say, can be beneficially changed by these simple but not necessarily easy adjustments.

It can only be good to remember to dance and to sing and to be ourselves, celebrate ourselves and move onward from there.

Co-hosted with STRUT Dance.

About Michael Keegan-Dolan and Teaċ Daṁsa

Michael rose to acclaim as the artistic director of Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre (1997-2015), which brought the production Giselle to Perth Festival in 2009. He has been an associate artist at the Barbican Centre and is now an associate at Sadler’s Wells, both in London.

Michael founded Teaċ Daṁsa (House of Dance) in 2016 as a means to forge a deeper connection with his cultural roots, and the traditions, language and rich musical heritage of his native Ireland. Swan Lake/Loch na hEala is the new company’s first production, which premiered in 2016 at Dublin Theatre Festival and has already toured extensively to Sydney, Moscow, Toronto, New Zealand and to Sadler’s Wells in London.
