Wednesday are one of indie rock’s hottest bands right now. They’re bring their sense of humour, exhilarating sonics and candid, piercing storytelling to Australia for the first time in a double bill with alt-country act (and Wednesday guitarist) MJ Lenderman.

Wednesday’s powerhouse lead singer and guitarist Karly Hartzman spins poignantly observational, vivid portraits of life in dead-end small-town America with a voice that is unrefined and full of emotion. Soundtracked by gritty, rip-roaring country-rock that is somewhere between the wailing skuzz of nineties shoegaze and classic country twang, this is music that will make you sit up and take notice.

The show also features captivating songwriter MJ Lenderman and his own band. With an immersive, fuzz-stacked sound, Lenderman’s rollicking fusion of country and rock manages to be twangy and heavy all at once and his music spans stories of the everyday shared with disarming insight.
