LITERATURE WEEKEND IN THE CITY
Kate Grenville
Join one of Australia’s most celebrated writers, Kate Grenville (appearing via live stream), in a conversation with Jo Trilling about her new book, A Room Made of Leaves. This genre-bending novel is a work of historical fiction that is written in the form of a memoir and traces the story of Elizabeth Macarthur who was married to John Macarthur (often referred to as the father of Australia’s wool industry), a wealthy and harsh man. As Elizabeth comes to terms with life in the colony, she begins to understand who she is and what damage is being wrought by her husband and men like him.
