Summer nights in Perth set the stage for searing passions in Spain, as Carmen takes over the hallowed turf at the WACA Ground.

In a large-scale outdoor arena spectacular, Bizet's indisputable masterpiece will be performed by over 150 singers and musicians, with full lighting and costume, on a purpose-built stage filled with dazzling projections on the iconic WACA square. The scene of so many epic conflicts will play host to the loves, betrayals, celebrations and tragedies of one of opera's greatest stories.

Carmen is a bold, daring, working class woman, living life as a free spirit. She sets her sights on Escamillo inciting jealousy in her powerful lover Don José. She hatches a plan to end this epic love triangle and gain her freedom, but will the fiery Carmen outsmart Don José or will her betrayal lead to shocking consequences?

Bask in Bizet's glorious music as Australia's finest singers bring to life this well-loved story through arias such as the famous ‘Habanera’ and the ‘Toreador's Song’ with tremendous local talent from the West Australian Opera Chorus, WAO Children's Chorus and the full might of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
