LITERATURE WEEKEND IN THE CITY
Brit Bennett is one of the most important writers in America today, and after signing a record-breaking deal with HBO to produce The Vanishing Half, she will soon be a household name. Set mainly in the 1950s, The Vanishing Half is an epic novel about sisters who choose different paths – one opting to pass as white and the other remaining black.
Join us for a conversation with Brit about her writing craft and the run-away success of this powerful new novel.
Brit will appear via live stream.
Born and raised in Southern California, Brit Bennett graduated from Stanford University and later earned her MFA in fiction at the University of Michigan, where she won a Hopwood Award in Graduate Short Fiction as well as the 2014 Hurston/Wright Award for College Writers.
