LOTTERYWEST FILMS
Another Round
‘[A] tragicomedy of booze and midlife defiance.’
At a drunken dinner party, four friends decide to test a Norwegian academic’s theory that we are all born with a deficit of alcohol in our system. The weary, middle-aged teachers propose drinking constantly throughout the day to maintain the ‘proper’ blood-alcohol level of 0.05%. Things start off brilliantly – maybe alcohol truly is the golden elixir that has been missing from their lives!
Fast, whirling camera work and intense close ups take us on a wild ride as the gang pushes their experiment further and things spiral out of control. Health is wrecked, careers are trashed and relationships are ruined.
Mads Mikkelsen is at his best giving a fierce and unsettling performance in Thomas Vinterberg’s boisterous and absorbing dark comedy about how men deal (and don’t deal) with ageing.
With limited capacity this year, it's a good idea to pre-book or get to the cinema as early as you can to avoid disappointment.
