Words & Image

William Yang

Words and images tell a personal story.

About

A picture may tell a thousand words but adding words can bring a picture to life even more. Well that’s the way Australian-Chinese artist William Yang sees it. He’s a born storyteller who uses photography, text and performance to bring his tales to life with candid, stunning photos (with the story of his encounter with the subject written directly on to the photograph) and moving monologues that are witty, touching and enthralling.

From the halcyon days of Sydney’s gay scene that in the 70s swept him out of the closet to exploring family relationships, racism and marginalisation, William Yang looks back on his fascinating life in this entertaining performance in words and images.
