About

‘Terrifically good … A movie with incomparable bite and strength.’

- THE GUARDIAN

In a run-down seaside resort, a gentle dog-groomer has to stand up to a tough local bully. When he is not looking after clients’ dogs at his grooming parlor slight, mild-mannered Marcello spends his days doting on his young daughter. But Marcello lives under the thumb of Simone, a local thug who is making Marcello’s life increasingly difficult.

This follow-up to director Matteo Garrone’s 2015 Perth Festival hit Tale of Tales is a bold and engrossing vision of a smalltime hood. Winner of eight prizes including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor at the ‘Italian national film awards. Winner Best Actor (Marcello Fonte) 2018 Cannes Film Festival.
