About

Go behind the scenes of Perth Festival’s 2019 Visual Arts program on this bus tour with a difference. Hop aboard the Art Bus and let curators Anne Loxley and Felicity Fenner be your tour guides around the galleries and exhibitions featured in the program. Along the way you’ll get the inside word from many of the artists themselves and some behind the scenes information from the curators.

If you can’t spend the whole day taking in the art you’re more the welcome to make your own way to the venues and take part in the discussions.

10am |  Meet at the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) where curator Carly Lord will give an introduction to Desert River Sea: Portraits of the Kimberley.

11am | The bus heads to Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) to meet up with Melbourne-based artist Marco Fusinato, he’ll introduce his exhibition Lower Power, which features work from his Infinitives series.

12pm | Next stop is Fremantle Arts Centre. Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran and Renee So will talk about their work in the Idols exhibition. David Noonan will also be around to chat about his first exhibition in WA –  A Dark and Quiet Place.

2pm |Join Gallery director and curator Chris Malcolm at 2pm as he discusses the work of Candice Breitz and Angelica Mesiti in Refuge at John Curtin Gallery.

3.30pm | Anne Loxley and Felicity Fenner will take audiences through Love, Displaced at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery.

5pm | The day ends at PICA where Marco Fusinato presents Spectral Arrows, his improvised durational performance for guitar and mass amplification.
