About

Go behind the scenes of Perth Festival’s 2019 Visual Arts program on this bus tour with a difference. Hop aboard the Art Bus and let curators Anne Loxley and Felicity Fenner be your tour guides around the galleries and exhibitions featured in the program. Along the way you’ll get the inside word from many of the artists themselves and some behind the scenes information from the curators.

If you can’t spend the whole day taking in the art you’re more the welcome to make your own way to the venues and take part in the discussions.

10am Meet at the Art Gallery of Western Australia for a curatorial introduction to Desert River Sea: Portraits of the Kimberley.

11am At Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA) curator Eugenio Viola will speak about Marco Fusinato and his exhibition Lower Power. He’ll then be joined by Anne Loxley to discuss the work of Cassils.

12pm Next stop is Fremantle Arts Centre where Ramesh Mario Nithiyendran discusses his work in the Idols exhibition and David Noonan talks about his first exhibition in Western Australia – A Dark and Quiet Place.

2pm Join exhibition curators Felicity Fenner and Chris Malcolm as they discuss the work of Candice Breitz and Angelica Mesiti in Refuge at John Curtin Gallery.

3.30pm Curator Felicity Fenner will discuss the Love, Displaced exhibition at Lawrence Wilson Art Gallery. You will also meet participating artists Richard Lewer and Christian Thompson who will introduce their works in the exhibition.

5pm The day ends with Marco Fusinato presenting Spectral Arrows, his improvised durational performance for guitar and mass amplification.
