Telling Stories
with Steve Rodgers
Come along to this free half-day workshop with The Pool playwright Steve Rodgers. Learn how to mine stories and turn them into works of fiction, using both writing and acting techniques, in this wonderful opportunity brought about by a Perth Festival and WA Youth Theatre Company collaboration.

This workshop will tackle the process of mining one’s own life and the lives of others for creative inspiration, looking at the writing process for The Pool, and examining the intricacies of sharing, remembering, and gathering stories and then turning those into works of fiction. Perfect for any young person with an interest in acting or writing, especially for people who are interested in both, participants will undertake exercises in generating story from acting techniques such as Uta Hagen-eque sense memory work, as well as exploring the core components of storytelling, looking at interview and real-life experience as source material for creative works of fiction.
