For young film lovers
We are inviting young people between the ages of 16 – 26 who love film, to be part of our Film Club. Members will experience the full 2022 Lotterywest Films program, by attending all films on each film’s opening night as a group, free of cost, and meet regularly with the Film Club moderator. You don’t need to be a film student or maker, you simply need to have the desire to meet new people, discover the film program and share your opinions.
As a commitment to inclusion, we are open to discussing any barriers to access for applicants, and working with them to find solutions, including travel costs and difficulties with English.
Film Club members will attend all films in the Lotterywest Films program at UWA Somerville, every week as a group on Monday nights, the opening night for each film. The season runs from 22 November 2021 – 28 March 2022, and films start at 730pm or 8pm and run for varying times. Moderated discussion sessions will occur the hour before the film, approximately every 3 weeks. Members will have opportunities to review films through a range of mediums including radio and written reviews. Members will be sent a final schedule on selection to Film Club.
We acknowledge lives are busy, so we ask that members can commit to at least 80% of the Film Club program.
Participants will need to arrange their own transport to and from UWA Somerville, and to the meetings. If this is a barrier to your involvement, please let us know and we can discuss potential solutions.
If you are under 18 years of age, you will be required to complete a parent/ guardian permission form which will be sent to successful applicants.
