What do we do?

Festival Connect is a rich and multi-faceted part of the Festival, and each year we endeavour to increase its impact for arts enthusiasts, artists, arts workers, students and teachers.

Programs offered through Festival Connect include;

ARTIST TALKS

Join us for pre & post-show artists talks that are presented for most of our shows. There’s also gallery tours and talks scheduled throughout the month of the Festival!

INDUSTRY FOCUSSED WORKSHOPS AND CONVERSATIONS

We partner with local organisations to present dynamic opportunities for the arts industry with Festival artists. From skills-based dance workshops to conversations around process, this is a way for local artists and arts teachers to develop their own skill sets.

ARTS INDUSTRY INTENSIVES

We offer a number of industry focussed intensive experiences, including the Festival Lab which immerses ten emerging artists across the breadth of the Festival; Producers Lab that connects local producers to those from around the world; a program up-skilling Indigenous artists in reviewing live performances and the Visual Arts Writing Group.

SCHOOLS: TICKETING, RESOURCES AND WORKSHOPS

We offer discounted tickets to most events for school groups, creating opportunities for school aged students to experience the most exceptional art from around Australia and the world. We also engage practicing teachers to develop resources, continuing the learning opportunities from the theatres into classrooms, a. d offer artist-led workshops at no cost to schools.

YOUNG PEOPLE

In partnership with local organisations, we create opportunities for young people to engage in the Festival as active participants, thinkers and artists. From curating sessions at the Literature & Ideas to composing fanfares or writing film reviews, the yearly program of activities responds to Festival themes and artists.

PARTNER SCHOOLS

We know that many students miss out on effective arts education due to inequity of access and inadequate resourcing. The Perth Festival Partner School program provides students with opportunities to watch, connect with and learn from the world’s leading visionary artists. Our Partner Schools get access to a tailored program of performances, workshops and professional development at no cost, and student transport is provided.

COMMUNITY: TICKETING AND ACCESS

We work with underrepresented or marginalised community groups to provide discounted tickets and create tailored Festival experiences and programs for their members. By addressing barriers to access which may include cost or transport, we aim to create a Festival that truly is for everyone.

Festival Connect is an ever evolving program that we hope to be a source of inspiration, challenge and motivation for those who participate.
