Josephine Wilson (WA)

Bio

Josephine Wilson’s second novel, Extinctions (UWA Publishing, 2016) won the 2017 Miles Franklin Literary Award, after winning the inaugural Dorothy Hewett Award in manuscript form. Extinctions tells the story of Fred Lothian, a brilliant engineer, now retired and widowed, who is incapable of finding solutions for human problems. He looks away from his son’s tragic injury and his adopted Aboriginal daughter’s cultural loss, and only finds intimacy with his collection of designer modernist objects.
