A proud Noongar man and WAAPA graduate, actor and theatre maker Ian Michael’s theatre and creative development credits include Let the Right One In (Black Swan State Theatre Company), HART (She Said Theatre), Blak Cabaret (Malthouse Theatre), The Kid (Melbourne Theatre Company) and Jandamarra (Bunuba Films). Screen credits include Offspring (Endemol Australia), Where are the Warriors (Wirrim Films) and Needle (Nexus 6 Films).
Michael was a theatre facilitator at Mobfest in Ti Tree, Alice Springs and Lightning Ridge, New South Wales in 2012. Mobfest combines performance opportunities for remote Indigenous youth on the main stage with workshops covering a broad cross section of the creative arts. Whether it be dance, theatre, instrument making or music technology, Mobfest engages students at a deep level, and gives every student the chance to perform at a community showcase. In 2018 he became a resident artist (actor/director) at Black Swan State Theatre Company, working closely with artistic director Clare Watson and the company’s artistic team.
